Tethered Shooting with ON1 Photo RAWIf you use one of the many compatible Canon or Nikon cameras, Photo RAW 2018.1 will allow for tethered shooting via USB cable to transfer photos instantly to your laptop or computer. The photos can have import settings applied to them as they are shot, and the software’s tethering capabilities allow the photographer to trigger the camera’s shutter from within Photo RAW as well as adjust settings such as aperture and shutter speed on the tethered camera. We spoke with Sandra Seffertz, President of the Lighthouse Camera Club in North Palm Beach, Florida about ON1 Photo RAW and her experience with the software.
“Frustrated with Adobe’s push for subscription based products, I purchased ON1 Photo Raw 18 earlier this year and I’m amazed at how much this program can do – and for such a reasonable price! ON1 does everything I did in both Lightroom and Photoshop and customer support responds promptly and is located right here in the USA. I recently purchased a Tether Tools TetherPro USB Cable for my camera and it worked great with ON1! In ON1, the left panel gives you the option to open photos from internal or external sources, filter specifically what you are looking for, and below that is a button to turn on Tethered Shooting. You simply connect your tether cable, click the tethered shooting button, select your camera manufacturer, turn your camera on and you’re ready to shoot. You have the option to modify your import settings and can choose to fire your shutter using the Fire button in ON1, or you can simply press your shutter release. The image is then on your screen and in the folder you selected. I had never tethered with ON1 before and I was up and shooting within a minute! LOVE this program and so glad they included the ability to tether! If you don’t already have this software-you should!” – Sandra Seffertz
