Our friend Peter Hurley posted out an interesting photo on Instragram. It’s a shot of his travel bag and clearly shows a game controller. When asked, he shared this is the Cullinator. The Cullinator lets you use a game controller to cruise through your catalog in Lightroom and rate, flag, and reject photos.
So why would you want to go through this workflow with a controller? Well, if you have a few thousand photos to get through, using a joystick and a few buttons designed in a form factor meant to be held for hours at a time can make the process faster and more efficient. Plus, you don’t need to be sitting upright in your office chair. You can sit on the couch, lay on the floor or grab one of those comfy oversized bean bag chairs. Once you put your laptop or Mac on a Tether Tools Aero Table, you can really position yourself anywhere.
Even if you don’t use Lightroom, you can still use the Cullinator. However, instead of using their handy presets for Lightroom, you’ll have to configure your own. This looks super simple as this video illustrates:
The Cullinator will set you back $50. Seems like a reasonable investment if your photo session often involved hundreds to thousands of photos at a time.
