Our recent post regarding cameras supported for tethered photography in Lightroom 3 has prompted many inquires regarding Aperture 3 tethered camera support.
Aperture 3 enables you to use tethered shooting, meaning images are captured directly into your computer from your camera. Not all cameras support tethered shooting, and those that do may need to be set up in different ways to enable this functionality. Consult your camera’s documentation for specific settings.
When setting up for a tethered photo shoot the following points should be kept in mind:
- Minimum requirements for tethered shooting with Aperture 3 are Aperture 3.0.3 & Mac OS X v10.6.4.
- Cameras not supported by Aperture for tethered shooting may be supported by their own software.
- Some cameras support both remote computer control and camera control of the shutter with tethered shooting, others may support only one or the other.
- It is recommended you turn your camera off while changing to a different tethering software.
The following cameras have been qualified for tethered shooting in Aperture 3.0.3 or later:
