Photographer Spotlight: Ben Liebenberg, Senior Photo Editor and Lead Photographer at National Football League
Ben Liebenberg is the Senior Photo Editor and Lead Photographer for the National Football League. With the NFL season in full swing, we caught up with Ben to talk all things photography, his favorite shots over the years, and more. I would describe my style of photography as…
Small moments in the fast paced world of the NFL.
What’s your most memorable shot or shoot, be it challenging to capture or interesting subject?
Jim Brown – The first time I had a chance to do a portrait with him I was pretty nervous. You can easily argue he is one of the best to ever play the game. He could not of been a nicer person.

What image are you most proud of from your photography portfolio?
SF Super Bowl. Shot on the peak of the roof at the Ferry Building in San Francisco at Sunset.
My dream gig would be…
Come on I shoot football for a living. Doesn’t get much better than that.
My favorite piece of gear is…
I love my 600mm. That is my main lens for shooting NFL games.
My favorite piece of Tether Tools gear is…
My TetherPro USB cable is key for all portraits that I shoot. I love being able to see shots on a large monitor and these cables make that possible.
The best advice I can offer a fellow photographer would be…
Listen, watch and learn. For me working as an assistant for Sports Illustrated when I was in college was the best teaching I have ever received. I learned from the best sports photographers.
