Professional photographer Joey L was recently commissioned to photograph for National Geographic Channel’s ‘Life Below Zero.’ This photoshoot was based on the fascinating lives of human beings who choose to live off the grid, often hunting or foraging for food in the hinterlands of Alaska.
The final images feature Sue Aikens. Sue is the warden of Kavik Camp – a remote exploration clamp miles North of the Arctic Circle, 500 miles from the nearest city and 80 miles from the closest road. Not only does Sue live in isolation for 9 months out of the year, but also was mauled and attacked by a grizzly, clawed and bitten in the head, and narrowly escaped death.
Behind the Scenes
In the behind-the-scenes video and these images, you can see many Tether Tools products featured including the High-visibility Orange FireWire 800/400 9pin to 6pin as well as iPad mounting solutions like the Studio Proper Wallee Connect Lite Kit.
This setup shows whatever tech integration scenario you need to achieve, utilizing the Tether Tools gear along with Capture Pilot (iPad connection of Capture One Pro) on the iPad from Phase One, tethered photography has never been easier.
After looking at the behind the scenes images, it seems I did 90% of this shoot laying down. – Joey L
