One of the nicer features of Apple devices is that it remembers all Wi-Fi networks that it has been connected to. However, there’s an issue that arises in locations where multiple Wi-Fi networks are available. If at least two remembered networks are available at the same time, your device picks only one. iOS and macOS relies simply on the alphabetical order of SSIDs (Service Set IDentifier associated with a 802.11 network) for selecting the one to pick.
This can be annoying because your device may automatically want to connect to your in-studio or other Wi-Fi when you want it to connect to your Case Air’s Wi-Fi network.
With a few simple steps, you can ‘hack’ your device to reorder networks to make the Case Air Wi-Fi the primary network that your device connects to first.
Setting the Wi-Fi Network Priority on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and selectWi-Fi
- Select your secondary network (not the Case Air Wi-Fi) and Forget the secondary network
- Connect to the primary network. In this case, this will be your unique Case Air Wi-Fi.
- Re-enter the information for the secondary network.
- Connect to the secondary network (to ensure the information is accurate).
- Re-connect to the primary network.
- Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
- From this point forward, your device will connect to the primary network as your first choice.
- Select the Wi-Fi symbol along the top menu bar and click on Open Network Preferences at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
- Click on Wi-Fi in the menu on the left and click Advanced located at the bottom right of the pop-up window.
- Select your secondary network and drag it underneath the Case Wi-Fi.
