DAY ONE

Introduction This is your opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow workshop attendees, which will create a sociable and fun environment to learn from Clay. Philosophy Clay will expose the story of how he strategically moved up the ladder from shooting friends at parties to shooting commercial advertisements and fashion editorials in several major publications in a matter of two years. Exposure Knowing your camera inside and out is a good thing, but it can also hinder your creative process. This is no 101 workshop, but Clay will show you the basics of his technique from in camera metering to finding unique composition.

Light Adding artificial light isn’t just to gain a proper exposure; artificial light can be the difference between “Cool” and “Amazing”. Leaving photographers all around wondering how it was shot. Clay will show his go-to on location and studio light scenarios for that perfect touch of drama. Along with a model and fashion team, the day fall into the homestretch on location doing what we love to do; shooting.

One-On-One Identity & Portfolio Critiques The day will close with one-on-one portfolio critiques and identity review. Additionally, Clay will personally assist in working through specific issues regarding business, branding and marketing of each individual attendee.

DAY TWO

Business The operation a successful small business isn’t easy. Without a solid sense of business the road to being your own boss is an impossible trek. From building a quote to proper tax preparation, Clay will review and reveal all the business tactics he has gained from his time in the music and photography industry.

Post Processing If you’ve seen those editorials in Vogue and Vanity Fair, post processing plays a large role in the overall color tone and feel of the spread. There is no quick process for thoroughly re-touching images, there is however a very wrong way to go about it. In collaboration with High End Retoucher Jordan Hartley, Clay & Jordan will tell all and breakdown the post process from import to export. Every attendee will edit the same image that Clay captures during the lighting session. Additionally, Jordan & Clay will edit and process an attendee photograph from the shoot on day one.
